The Maths Department's philosophy is to make maths REAL:
Relevant - topics are taught by applying them to real-life purpose.
Enjoyable - engaging activities and the satisfaction of making progress.
Achievable - topics and assessments are pitched at an appropriate level.
Lifelong - appreciating that maths is a form of communication in the wider world.

MyMaths
In all year groups the school uses www.mymaths.co.uk for homework tasks.
To log on to the site you may use login: ratton (the teacher will need to provide the school's current password).
Students are also given personal login details by their teacher which allows them to complete homework and independent study online. The results are then stored centrally for the teacher to see and check.
Equipment
All pupils should be fully equipped for their mathematics lesson to enable them to access the curriculum. This consists of:
-
Pen (Blue or Black)
-
Pencil
-
Ruler
-
Scientific Calculator - we recommend the Casio FX 83 or FX 85 models. Available via ParentPay (at a reduced cost)
-
Compasses
-
Protractor
