CAREERS NEWS : YEAR EIGHT WORKPLACE VISIT!

Recently, #TeamCareers held their nineth #TeamYearEight workplace visit this year, which means that almost 80 Year Eight students have been out on workplace visits! Wowee, what great opportunities they have explored.
This particular visit was organised through East Sussex County Council's Careers Hub East Sussex 'Open Doors' scheme. Open Doors visits enable our learners to interact with local employers through short workplace visits and learn about careers and employability skills. All very valuable, ready for #LifeAfterRatton
Our learners enjoyed a particularly engaging and interesting talk from Dan Hayman about what Cheesmur Building Contractors do and what working in the construction industry is like. Dan also organised a practical activity where the students planned, designed and constructed a ‘structure’ and then ‘presented’ their project to their 'client' to see if it met client specification and was within budget! A great chance to learn new skills and hone their presenting skills. Good job!
Our learners thoroughly enjoyed their visit and also heard about apprenticeships and the different qualifications required for some opportunities in the construction industry.
A huge THANK YOU goes out to Dan Hayman at Cheesmur Building Contractors and Henry Clayson from the Careers Hub East Sussex Open Doors scheme for this fantastic and insightful visit, our learners had a brilliant time.
See you again soon Cheesmur Building Contractors and Careers Hub East Sussex, from your friends here at #TeamRatton!
